Hotel safes are devices used to store valuables in hotel rooms. They are secured with a code that the guest sets himself or receives from the reception. Hotel safes provide security and convenience for guests who do not have to worry about the loss or theft of their documents, money, jewellery or electronic equipment. Hotel safes are usually made of sturdy metal and mounted in a cupboard or wall. Their capacity and dimensions can vary depending on the needs and standards of the hotel. Hotel safes are easy to use and do not require any additional charges for use.

What do hotel safes need to be used for?

For the record, it should be noted that the term 'hotel safes' refers to devices that are not designed to withstand a burglary attempt. They are not burglar-proof. The task of a hotel safe is to protect valuables from the opportunity to make a thief, simply put, from the staff.

The second important task of a hotel safe is to provide convenience during the guests' stay by putting the most important items, such as passport, computer or camera, in one place. Placing these types of items in the safe reduces the risk of guests losing them to a minimum.

What size are hotel safes?

There are generally three sizes of hotel safes on offer:

• compact, allowing you to store the smallest items such as a passport, camera, mobile phone or wallet,
• suitable for storing laptops with a matrix size of 15-15.6",
• the largest, allowing you to put a 17" laptop inside.

Some hotel safes, especially the larger ones offered to chain hotels, are equipped with sockets for charging laptops or mobile phones inside the safe.

Are hotel safes necessary?

Their presence in a hotel room is regulated by categorisation regulations, but in the environment of Polish hotels, facilities equipped with hotel safes are very welcome, even if they are not obliged to do so. A hotel providing its guests with an in-room safe, in this day and age of increasingly abundant electronics, necessarily tempts with the offer of a higher standard. Safes offered free of charge score even more points, so we encourage you to take a look at the offer available on our website. Safes, like minibars, are the key to success in the industry.

Where to install hotel safes?

Hotel safes are small, compact and lightweight devices. Their presence in a hotel room should not be too ostentatious, so the most common place for mounting them is at the bottom of a wardrobe or other piece of furniture.

Dedicated furniture for the incorporation of safes is available on the market. An experienced hospitality furniture manufacturer will undoubtedly know how to do this.

How do hotel safes work?

Hotel safes, although similar in form and purpose to burglar safes, are a completely different product group. Yes, they are used to store valuables, such as jewellery, but they are used by hundreds of guests per year, not just one person. Therefore, the use of such a safe is somewhat different.

The safe can be accessed via an electronic lock and, upon check-in, the safe is left open for guests. The safe is locked with a single-use code; the code the guest uses to lock it and open it, but can choose a completely different code next time.

There is, of course, an emergency opening option. Depending on the model chosen, this is an emergency code, a physical key, or both. Of course, the emergency codes are available to hotel staff in case of problems reported by guests.
